New Year, New Wardrobe Pieces

Tis season for all things new! New goals, new resolutions and new wardrobe pieces!

I've always enjoyed adding new pieces to my closet as the new year begins. I remember as a kid, going back to school after Christmas break, wearing an entirely new outfit from head to toe. Not much has changed! I still love that feeling of wearing a brand new outfit.

If you are looking to update your wardrobe this year I have just the pieces for you. Before you read what they are I want you to be open minded! Don't say that you can't wear them, be open to giving them a shot!

First up, high-waisted jeans. I know a lot of you moms and over 40 women like myself are going to hate me for this but, I'm saying it anyway. Ditch the mid and low rise jeans! Got a belly? Most of us do. Doesn't matter. A high-waisted jean WILL NOT accentuate it. It will hold it in and give you a more polished look. Also, don't be afraid to tuck in, embrace that belly.

Second, try a bodysuit. Again, I know you don't want to believe me but I am telling you, you can wear one. They come in all sizes and styles. Bodysuits don't have to been worn alone. Layer them with a fun jacket, flannel shirt, vest, blazer, cardigan, or just about anything! They will give you an neat look when tucked in those high-waisted jeans.

Lastly, add an updated pair of boots to your closet. This season, the Chelsea boot has hit hard. The Chelsea boot is a low boot that is usually tight fitting at the ankle. Some are clunky but, they don't have to be. In fact, some can be sleek and feminine. I love that they are flat and comfortable yet stylish enough to dress up any pair of jeans or leggings. You can start with a basic black boot or try something neutral like a tan or cream colored boot. You can go wrong with a Chelsea boot for winter.

Three items, that's it! Just three items can update your style and your wardrobe for 2022. Which one are you going to try first?
